Undated

  • Ongoing: Hundred Years' War.
  • Event: The Ming Dynasty of China sets up large-scale night watches to detect (and prosecute) secretive silver mining, which they had declared illegal in 1438.
  • Event: Gilles de Rais assaults a clergyman. These leads to an investigation and eventually trial for his many other crimes. He is arrested together with two of his servants and, following a trial in which some of the evidence (that he is a serial killer) was considered so vile that it was deleted from the court records, all three men were sentenced to be hanged and their bodies burnt.
