- Event: The Count of St. Germain spends nearly the entire year in London, and is very active socially. He contributes music to weekend performances at the Haymarket theatre in the spring. He tells Horace Walpole of his previous adventures in Mexico and Constantinople. He is arrested on suspicion of espionage in the winter, but is released without charge.
- Event: The Count of St. Germain is also reported to be in Vienna, Austria for much of the year, suggesting he may have the ability to be in more than one place at a time. (Or, less fantastically, he may be a cover identity used by multiple spies or conmen. Or, it's a case of mistaken identity or rumor. Take your pick.)
