- Event: William Farnsworth founds a fur trading post on the Sheboygan River, which forms the nucleus of the city of Sheboygan
- Event: Work completed on a full-scale plaster mock-up of the Elephant of the Bastille, a planned monument to commemorate the military victories of Napoleon. The monument was never completed.
