- Event: The First Red Scare and the Palmer Raids - Fearing a communist revolt that never came to be, the US Government arrests 10,000 Americans (communists, anarchists, labor activists, immigrants in general, and those merely suspected of being one of the above) across 23 cities between November 1919 and January 1920. Over 2,000 of the arrests were subsequently thrown out by the courts when the warrants were determined to have been illegally obtained by the justice department.

- Event: Citizens of Limerick (Ireland) went on general strike, declaring the city and its surroundings a new state, Limerick Soviet.
