Basic Information

Armour Piercing Composite Rigid (aka Armour Piercing Hard Core and similar names).
A form of armour piercing ammunition similar to APDS except that the 'sabot' does not detach and thus slightly reduces the effectiveness of the round by increasing aerodynamic drag on its flight to the target.

Common in the early years of WW2 - and indeed right to the end of the war with everyone except the Western Allies (who had access to APDS) - but supplanted afterwards by its more effective descendant.

Like APDS this concept is pretty much exclusive to ordnance weapons - more so in fact given that it was obsolete before the re-birth of practical personal armour.
