Australia hit hard by mining slump

March 31, 2009: The Ravensthorpe nickel mine in Australia was forced to close down due to the economic downturn, signaling the end of the recent resource boom in Australia and possibly leading to the creation of a ghost town - the community which was freshly built for the workers in the mine and their families.

  • Abandoned mines and their associated ghost towns make for great scenery in an adventure.
  • Perhaps an evil cult moves in and uses the remaining infrastructure.
