TIRESIAS: So,
you mock my blindness? Let me tell you this.
You with your precious eyes,
you're blind to the corruption of your life,
to the house you live in, those you live with —

Game and Story Use

  • Possible knowledge or powers gained from this trope could include:
    • The ability to see the spirit world or Subspace or Hyperspace instead of the physical world.
      • This might help with navigating through such a realm - especially useful in the case of the latter when entering hyperspace is the only way of Faster Than Light Travel and people who are able to perceive it are the only qualified navigators for this realm.
    • The ability to see the past or the future.
      • A variant of this was seen with Raistlin from Dragonlance (whose eyes were altered, not gone) - he saw how objects and people would appear in the future, which meant that he perceived most people as old or even decaying.
  • Consider whether the character lost his eyes at birth or later in life.
    • If the latter, was it a voluntary process, or from an accident - or was it even deliberately inflicted on them?
      • If the process is controllable, there might be a whole class of people who have their eyes ritualistically removed to serve a specific role and function thanks to their powers.
  • As a variant, consider removing one of the other four senses. What kind of ability might somebody gain if he gave up the sense of hearing, taste, smell, or touch?
