Game and Story Use

  • Given the sudden and unexpected nature of the attack, the aggressor might have been possessed by an evil spirit.
  • Alternatively, his action could have been the result of brainwashing, and there might be more to the victim than first apparent.
  • Stabbed & Beheaded? Vampire much anyone? Your PCs may leave a lot of reports like this in their wake, especially if various unholy creatures don't conviently vanish when killed. Even more if they have difficulty identifying unholy creatures in the first place.
    • Indeed, some critters may take great amusement in tricking hunters into misidentifying innocent people as monsters and thus getting them killed. This will both set law enforcement against the hunter in question and make it harder for any subsequent hunters to work as well. It may even strengthen their masquerade.
