Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event

The Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event - also known as the KT extinction was a disaster that occurred 65 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs, as well as numerous other animals.
The exact cause of the event is unknown. While it is widely assumed that one or more meteor impacts played a role, other evidence hints that the extinction was a more gradual event.
