Summary

January 19, 2008: In the Iraqi cities of Basra and Nasiriya, security forces fought with members of a cult called "Supporters of Mahdi" or "Soldiers of Heaven" during the celebrations of the Shia holiday Day of Ashura. The members of the cult believe that their leader is the son of the Mahdi.
