Determined Homesteaders Wife

Basic Information

The Determined Homesteaders Wife is a character trope common to both The Western and the Romance Novel. With her in the mix, either member of the couple could qualify as a "Determined Homesteader", and they share the goal of eeking out a living for themselves and their Determined Homesteaders Children on the frontier. She'll be skilled at farming, housekeeping, animal husbandry, and will at least know how to load and shoot a gun.

If her husband passes away, she'll likely stick around as the Determined Widow, and keep tending the homestead. "It's what yer Pa would've wanted me to do."

According to the Tropes Wiki, sometimes these ladies start out as Mail-Order Brides.
