Duke University Creates Perfect Centimeter-Scale Invisibility
Summary
Scientists at Duke University have developed an 'invisibility cloak' which perfectly hides centemeter-scale objects. The cloak is composed of metamaterials, man-made materials with unnatural properties; in this case, a negative refractive index.
The cloak only works with microwaves and on relatively small objects. Previous attempts at an invisibility cloak had problems with reflections which spoiled the illusion.
