Basic Information
In addition to the four-elements system that many of our readers may be familiar with, there are several different five elements systems from a variety of cultures around the globe.
The traditional five elements of China (see also Chinese Mythology) are Earth, Fire, Metal, Water and Wood.
The traditional five elements of Japan (see also Japanese Mythology) are Air, Earth, Fire, Void and Water.
The traditional five elements of Babylon (see also Mesopotamian Mythology) are Earth, Fire, Sky, Water and Wind.
Some versions of the western four elements also recognize a fifth element, usually resulting in a pentad of Aether, Air, Earth, Fire, and Water.
This page is a stub, but there's plenty of related information on our Classical Element, Elemental, Elemental Magic and Humorism pages. Please visit those pages instead of expanding this page with info that might be redundant. I considered just making this page redirect to Classical Element, but decided it was probably better to have it be a list of the various other pages one might go to for information instead of just automatically re-routing to just one of the possibilities.
