Giant Penguin of Clearwater Beach

Basic Information

The Giant Penguin of Clearwater Beach (and later, of Suwannee River) in Florida was a hoax perpetuated in 1948 by local pranksters who made huge penguin feet out of iron, which was revealed on April 11, 1988. While the giant penguin tracks were not the only sightings, the others - which claimed that the penguin was 4.5 meters tall and had "alligator-like feet" were also hoaxes… probably.
