Haruspicy

Basic Information

Haruspicy is the divinatory art of reading entrails - also known as extispicy. The examination of the liver as part or whole of such divination may also be called hepatomancy - presumably other, less traditional terms could be constructed for the examination of other organs. A routine question was "was this sacrifice acceptable?", even if more detailed questions might be asked thereafter.

A Haruspex is the word for a priest who performs Haruspicy.
