Hidden Ingredient In New, Greener Battery - A Virus
rating: 0+x

April 6, 2009: Scientists have been able to create a battery which uses viruses in its electrodes. The creators of these batteries think that this process could be scaled to an industrial level, and be used to create fuel cells for cars.

Game and Story Use

  • In a cinematic campaign, if these viruses get loose and mutate, they could alter plants and other parts of the environment to create "living batteries" everywhere.
    • In a grey goo scenario involving these viruses, they could form the basis of an alternate ecosystem, as nanites and autonomous robots feed on the electricity of these "free-growing" batteries.
