Living Root Bridges
Summary
August 5, 2009: In Cherrapunji, India (possibly one of the wettest places on Earth) the locals have created bridges out of living roots of ficus trees. The bridges take about ten to fifteen years until they become fully functional, and some bridges are more than five hundred years old.
