Basic Information

A rather sociological sounding term for a wizard - mainly the provenance of Dungeons & Dragons and, arguably an artifact from its progenitor Chainmail.

Rather lacking in cultural feeling to be a likely "in universe" term and better saved for meta-game discussions if used at all.

Game and Story Use

• The term is non-specific, so it might be used to describe casters of unknown types. If you don't know whether you're dealing with a theurge, a wizard, or something else, you call them a magic-user.
