Meteorite

Basic Information

A meteorite is the rock, mineral, or lump of metal remnants of a meteor after it has struck the earth. They are often found in a crater leftover from the meteor impact. Sometimes the nearby area will be covered with scattered tektites cast up by the impact.

Meteorites are often made of meteoric iron (which may be in the form of iron-ore, or an iron-nickel alloy).
