rating: 0+x

Summary

April 5, 2009: Mexican followers of Santa Muerte protested the destruction of more than 30 shrines in the city of Nuevo Laredo (close to the border to Texas) by the authorities. This was protested by the followers of the cult, including their archbishop David Romo. A spokesman for the Roman Catholic Church denied involvement of the Church in the demolitions, but commented that "it is no secret that this (Saint Death) religious organization is associated with drug traffickers and organized crime … it is not only superstitious, but diabolical."
