Moth
Basic Information
The moth is a type of insect related to the butterfly. As a general rule, moths have feathery antennae and have furrier bodies and duller wing colors than butterflies; they are also usually nocturnal, but are attracted to lights. Moth caterpillars spin cocoons in which they metamorphize into the adult moth.
Silk - or at least the silk commonly used in textiles - is collected from the cocoons of a species of moth.
