Niger
Basic Information
The Republic of Niger is a country in Africa. It is not to be confused with Nigeria, another African nation with which it shares a border.
15 million people live in Niger. Most of the population are muslim.
Niger is a developing nation, and rates very low on the United Nations Human Development Index (which tracks life expectancy, education, and income).
Over 80% of the country is desert, so population is concentrated in the south and west regions. Niger is landlocked. Major geographical features include the Sahara desert and the Niger River. Exports include Coal, Gold, Livestock, Oil and Uranium.
