Nyx

Nyx is a protogenoi, which means that she is one of the first beings. She is the goddess of night and mist, thought to be frightening because she is said to have a dark veil covering her and swirls of mist. She is the consort and sister of Erebus, and is feared by all, including the great god Zeus. An example of this is when her son (Hypnos, the God and Personification of Sleep) made Zeus fall into a heavy slumber because Hera wanted to take revenge on one of Zeus's many lovers. Zeus was furious when he found out, and chased Hypnos in anger. However, before he could be caught, Hypnos hid behind his mother Nyx, and Zeus turned, not wanting to offend her. In some stories, Nyx is the first being, which increases her power.
