Basic Information
A Peat Bog is a stagnant wetland with acidic soil and relatively little plant life (mostly sphagnum moss and fungus, and sometimes venus flytrap or other carnivorous plants). It also has a high peat content, which is to say that there a lot of slowly decaying sphagnum plant matter in the water.
Bog iron may form as small nodules of iron ore in the bog. This is also the natural habitat of the bog-mummy and the environment in which bog butter is brewed.
Professionals you might meet in a Peat Bog in pre-modern times include the leech-collector, bog iron hunter, and fueller.
This page is a stub, created to populate Peat Bog terrain into our Random Nation Generator. For more information on peat bogs, see the Swamp page.
