Pursuivant

Basic Information

A pursuivant is a sort of junior Herald or junior officer of arms. They have similar responsibilities and duties as a Herald, but are lower in rank.

In the modern day, pursuivant's exist in the United Kingdom, serving government and private institutions (such as the Scottish Clans) in matters genealogical and heraldic. They also exist within the structure of Freemasonry, being in charge of the communications and regalia of a Grand Lodge.

Game and Story Use

• Given the link to the Freemasons, this may provide a way to use a Herald-type character in the Modern Day in a campaign utilizing Conspiracy Theory.
  • The Pursuivant seeks out the PCs after he discovers some terrible secret - perhaps the masons are actually an ancient conspiracy, and not the just the brotherhood of funny hats he'd previously believed them to be.
