Summary

March 14, 2009: Scientists formerly working on the Strategic Defense Initiative are now working on a laser system designed to shoot down large numbers of mosquitoes. Test systems are able to target individual mosquitoes from 100 feet away. The goal is to use this laser system to fight malaria.

In a Science Fiction or Twenty Minutes Into The Future setting, this could be used to fight microscale robots.
- If they can easily hit mosquito, hitting a human shouldn't be a problem. All that is needed is a higher power output. Even if it's not sufficiently powerful to kill or injure a human, it could certainly blind him if it aims for the eyes…
