Scientists Beaming After Test Of Big Atom Smasher
rating: 0+x

Summary

September 10, 2008: Scientists have activated the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. The Large Hadron Collider accelerates protons to near the speed of light and then causes them to smash into each other, resulting in a number of obscure and hard-to-detect subatomic particles. It is hoped that these experiments will reveal more about dark matter and the Higgs Boson.

Some people have protested its activation, believing that there is a chance it might generate microscopic black holes which could be trapped within the Earth, grow rapidly, and eventually destroy the planet from within.
