The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is a mutual-security organization which was founded on June 15, 2001 by China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. India, Iran, Mongolia, and Pakistan have observer status.
