Somalia's pirate problem grows more rampant

Summary

October 31, 2008: As Somalia-based piracy has become more rampant, the rest of the world tries to fight it more effectively after pirates have stolen a shipload of Soviet-era tanks from an Ukrainian ship intended for Kenya (though there are speculations that the tanks were ultimately intended for the government of South Sudan). Several NATO warships have joined naval forces of the United States and a Russian frigate in patrolling the coast. Private military companies such as Blackwater Worldwide have started offering their services to deal with the situation.
