Game and Story Use

  • Declassified information means Mad Scientists can finally share the dirty details of projects they were sworn to secrecy about previously.
  • The article may be disinformation designed to smokescreen Area 51 and Majestic 12, or to duplicitously debunk UFOs.
    • This isn't as silly as it may sound - the article includes at least one glaring factual error. It claims Oxcart and the Lockheed A-12 were only declassified in 2007, when in reality they were known publicly long before that. An actual A-12 (the plane that Project Oxcart developed) was on display at the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum in New York, and another in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before 2007. The article also claims the A-12 is shaped like a disk (and thus its flights are the "true" source of thousands of UFO sightings), but it's actually shaped identically to the SR-71 Blackbird. Either the LA Times Did Not Do The Research, or someone (paper, government, interviewed witnesses, etc) is up to something.
