Basic Information

The United Nations is, in the words of wikipedia, an intergovernmental organization tasked with maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, achieving international co-operation, and being a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations.
Some projects/agencies of the United Nations include:

• United Nations Children’s Fund
• United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
• World Health Organization

The World Trade Organization is not part of the UN, but they stay on good terms.
